Group Overview

The Descomponólog@s Study and Working Group is an interdisciplinary group at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Buenos Aires. It brings together members currently working at the Faculty with colleagues from other institutions in Argentina and abroad. We share a common interest in understanding how soils function, through an integrated perspective that brings together ecology, soil science, microbiology, and other disciplines.

We hold regular meetings to share research progress, discuss ideas, and develop joint activities and projects. The group is open to anyone interested in participating and contributing from different perspectives. If you are interested in joining us, please get in touch.

Objectives

The general objective of the Descomponólog@s Study and Working Group is to generate and integrate scientific knowledge on soil functioning, while promoting its discussion, dissemination, and application toward more sustainable soil use.

Specific objectives

Create a multidisciplinary space that fosters the exchange of knowledge about soils, their study from different disciplinary perspectives, across different types of ecosystems, and in response to different anthropogenic impacts and uses, both productive and non-productive.
Promote joint research and knowledge-production activities, including scientific and outreach publications, educational tools, courses, and interdisciplinary research projects.
Encourage the participation of researchers at different career stages, particularly students, by providing a space for scientific discussion and collaborative learning.
Strengthen links with members of different academic chairs and research groups, as well as with stakeholders such as technical professionals, producers, organizations (CREA, INTA), NGOs, and companies.
